NBA star Derek Fisher, point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, asked for – and received – an order of protection against a Symone Fisher this week. Derek Fisher claims that Symone has been harassing him and his family for years. In fact, he asked for a protection order against her way back in 2005 – but never followed through on the court date.
Symone apparently claims to be in an ongoing relationship with Fisher and has started showing up uninvited at his family home.
Fisher says he has no relationship with Symone of any kind but that she believes they are either married or have children together. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the situation due to escalating threats.
Fisher’s application for the protection order included love letters received from Symone. TMZ.com quotes one of them: “If I give your sexy ass my new # r u going to call me or will u send the po po after me? Meanie.” And another: “Yes, I do want to have your babies – the ones you keep showing me. Our beautiful sons. Place them in my womb now.”
According to a declaration from Fisher’s personal security, Symone “began sending unsolicited and unwanted packages of compact discs of love songs to Mr. Fisher at the [Lakers] practice facility.”
Temporary orders of protection are generally issued if the allegations meet a certain threshold of concern. They are valid for a limited period of time and expire unless they are made permanent after a hearing.
